Fall Update from Carl Gibson Senior Center

The Carl Gibson Senior Center is ramping up their Autumn options. Here's a limited schedule of what they're offering - among their day-to-day options - between now and mid-November.

The Carl Gipson Senior Center is in full swing this fall with good food, an iconic pop dinner and a big-band celebration. The public is welcome to OkotoberFEAST on Oct. 6, a Beatles tribute dinner concert on Oct. 20, and the 13th Annual Veterans Day USO Dance on Nov. 11.

“The fall events are a great time for our senior community to come together,” says Eric Wollan, project coordinator for the center. “We’ve also got an opportunity for guests of all ages to join in the fun with the Beatles tribute show and dinner.”

OktoberFEAST

Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Bite into October with a free lunchtime festival of food and vendors geared toward seniors, ages 50 and better. Graze on soups, savory bites and sweets offered for free by local organizations. Registration for attendees is not required for the event.

The Senior Center is accepting additional vendor applications through Oct. 3; Lisa Harrison at 425-257-7087 for more information.

Here comes the fun: Beatles Tribute Show & Dinner

Saturday, Oct. 20, 5:30-9 p.m.

Lend your ears to The Fab Three for two hours of iconic Beatles songs played in tribute to the heart, soul and musicianship of John, Paul, George and Ringo. The Seattle-based band performs without props or costumes, relying on the enduring magic of Beatles music to evoke universal life experiences and inspire whimsy.

The concert starts at 7 p.m., following a Beatles-themed dinner at 6 p.m. Seating begins 30 minutes in advance. All ages welcome. Tickets are $7 for the show and $18 with dinner, and advance ticket purchase is required. Call 425-257-8780 or go online to Brown Paper Tickets.

Celebrate service: 13th Annual Veterans Day USO Dance

Sunday, Nov. 11, 1-5 p.m.

Swinging sounds continue into November, when Route 66 helps the Senior Center celebrate veterans with a little jump, jive and wail during the 13th Annual Veterans Day USO Dance. Men and women ages 50 plus, who served the country in any branch of the armed forces, are welcome to bring their partners and enjoy honorary ceremonies, refreshments and the live, 16-piece band.

Admission is free but advance tickets are required. Tickets are available starting Oct. 22 by calling 425-257-8780.

Everett’s Carl Gipson Senior Center is located at 3025 Lombard Avenue. An elevator from the center leads to free, underground parking with entrances on Wall Street and Broadway. For more information about the center, call 425-257-8780, or visit online: everettwa.gov/seniorcenter.
