From the City of Everett: Everett Transit Seeks Community Input on 20-Yr Plan

Everett Transit is seeking community input on the Draft Long Range Plan, which will become the department’s roadmap for local transit service in the next 20 years. Over the past year, Everett Transit looked at projected population and job growth in the area, what the regional transit networks will offer in the future, and emerging technologies. The team also evaluated public feedback on transit priorities.

Everett Transit’s vision for the future, the Growth Network Plan, restructures and prioritizes service to support increased density and regional transit investments. Under the draft plan, Everett Transit would:

Increase service hours by up to 25 percent to provide more frequent service

Increase the number of buses in the fleet to up to 50, in order to meet the needs of our growing population

Increase how often the bus comes so that average wait times are below 10 minutes

Increase ridership by up to 17,000 daily riders by 2040

The agency also completed a financial scenario analysis to understand the costs of the current and future network. Everett Transit is identifying funding options and developing a funding strategy for near-term and long-term service.

The time for feedback is now!

To gather community feedback from both current and potential riders, Everett Transit will host an online survey through March 30. The agency will also host an in-person question & answer session, where community members can learn about the Draft Long Range Plan, ask questions and share input. In addition, Everett Transit will present at other organizational meetings, and information about opportunities to talk with project staff can be found at

In the next few months, Everett Transit will use the community input received to refine the Long Range Plan and present it to Everett City Council. Near-term changes to ensure financial sustainability are anticipated to go into effect with the next service change in 2019, while long-term growth strategies will be evaluated in the next few years.
