Lake Tye in Monroe to Host WWA Wakeboarding Championships 7/25 to 7/28

From Tammy Dunn, the Sports Development Director of Snohomish County Sports Commission: It is an honor to be hosting the Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships for the first time. Lake Tye is a great lake for wakeboarding competitions as we have hosted Pro Wakeboard Tours over the last seven years. We look forward to welcoming the competitors, family and friends, and spectators to the City of Monroe and Snohomish County. See below for the full press release.

The World Wake Association (WWA) and Nautique Boat Company are taking the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy to Monroe, Washington July 25-28, 2018. The 5X Wakeboard and 4X Wakesurf Boat of the Year, the Super Air Nautique G23, will deliver perfection to Lake Tye Park with performances from the most talented field of amateur and professional competitors in history. The 2018 Nautique Wake Series and WWA Wakeboard World Series continue as the heartbeat of the sport with athletes focused on driving progression with innovative riding at every stop.

Riders in all amateur divisions qualify to compete at the Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships at their respective Regional Championships held throughout the season. Whether placing at the top of their division or not, all riders have the honor to represent the U.S.A. at the 2018 Nautique WWA Wakeboard World Championships, in Miyoshi City, Japan.

“The Nautique WWA Wakeboard Nationals always brings out the best of the best,” said Nautique President Greg Meloon. "We’re happy to watch the progression of wakeboarding go down behind the Super Air Nautique G23. The wakes provide the perfect platform for riders of all ages and abilities to go out and compete their absolute best and have fun in the process."

The Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy serves as the fifth stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series and fourth stop of the Nautique Wake Series, towed exclusively behind the legendary Super Air Nautique G23. This season is set to be nothing short of amazing as every one of the top 10 riders on the WBWS have a bag of tricks that can take the win on any given weekend.

“Every year the Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships presented by Rockstar Energy brings everyone together from the smallest groms competing for their first season to the heroes of our sport in the Pro divisions. This year has something special about it as we continue to get closer as a community and push the sport. We're excited to bring this event to the northwest and look forward to another year of family fun and competition at Nationals!" said WWA Executive Director Corrie Wilson.
