Rain Garden Program Enters 5th Year

It’s back! For the fifth year, the City of Everett is offering up to $2,500 to city residents who install approved rain gardens on their property. The rain gardens assist in managing stormwater runoff throughout the city.

See below, for the press release from the city, and where and when you can go to attend free workshops on the project.

In March, the City will host free informational workshops where interested homeowners can learn more about the benefits of rain gardens and the rebate program requirements. No registration is required:

  • Saturday, March 16, 10:00 a.m. at Everett Public Works, 3200 Cedar St
  • Tuesday, March 19, 7:00 p.m. at Eisenhower Middle School, 10200 25th Ave SE
  • Tuesday, March 26, 6:30 p.m. at Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave
  • “Rain gardens are great alternative for homeowners who have problems managing stormwater runoff on their property,” said Apryl Hynes, the City rain garden rebate specialist. “The rebate offers a fantastic additional incentive and I hope people will attend of the workshops to learn more about the program.”

    More about rain gardens

    Rain gardens are shallow depressions landscaped with soil and plants that soak up stormwater runoff—preventing flooding, reducing lawn area and filtering pollution. The rebate program targets homeowners in flood-prone areas of the city, but is open to all Everett residents.
