SnoCo PUD Signed Major Emergency Declaration

The declaration will allow for interagency support in the form of aid in responding to outages, downed trees, or any situation related to the ongoing storm and gale watch, reports King5 this AM.

Although Snohomish County PUD has restored power to over 44,000 homes since the snow came to town, nearly 2,300 homes in the county are still going without, and East of Sultan is becoming dire as some go up to five days without power and supplies begin running low.

SnoPUD has removed 66 trees from county roads since Sunday, a metric that will likely take a jump as the heavy, gusting winds move into the county.

“When trees get loaded with snow, they fall. The limbs break off. There have been power outages,” said Scott North of the Snohomish County Department of Emergency Management in an interview with King5.

The National Weather Service has placed a wind advisory on the area, expecting gusting winds up to 45 mph, from 4 pm to 1 am this evening. East of Highway 9 can expect to see gusts in the 60's.
