Update: Residential Fire on 138th in M'ville

An incredibly destructive housefire consumed a home in Marysville May 15. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and although the family has been tragically displaced, nobody was injured. Below is an update from the Marysville Fire Department:

From the Marysville Fire Department:

Marysville Fire District firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that damaged a home and three cars Tuesday evening. A neighbor first reported flames and smoke coming from the garage of the home in the 5300 block of 138th St NE just after 6:40 p.m. A man was inside the home sleeping at the time.

After neighbors woke him, the man unsuccessfully attempted to put out the fire using a garden hose. When firefighters arrived minutes later, the fire had spread to the home’s attic. Firefighters extinguished the fire less than 30 minutes after arriving on scene. No one was injured. The Red Cross is assisting three people displaced from the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office. Total damage is estimated at $140,000 with smoke and heat damage throughout the home. Arlington Fire Department, North County Fire and EMS, and Snohomish County Fire District 22 (Getchell) provided mutual aid to Marysville in getting this fire under control.

The Marysville Fire District reminds all residents that having working smoke alarms in your home can save the lives of you or your family members. We also encourage the use of residential fire sprinklers to dramatically reduce the heat, flames and smoke produced in a fire.
