KRKO Russell and Hill Male Athlete of the Month-April 2020-Owen Bishop-Arlington High School

Congratulations to our KRKO Radio Russell and Hill Male Athlete of the Month for April 2020, Owen Bishop of the Arlington High School Class of 2020. Owen was the Western Conference Baseball Player of the Year in 2019, and was expected to repeat in 2020. Arlington's record during his career was 66-10 overall, including District and State tournaments. The Eagles qualified for the state tournament in each of his 3 seasons. Owen has elected to play at South Dakota State University where he will play baseball for his Uncle Rob Bishop, the Head Coach of the Jackrabbits. Scott Striegel is baseball coach at Arlington High School.

Congratulations to our KRKO Radio Russell and Hill Female Athlete of the Month for April 2020, Emilie Henningsen of the Glacier Peak High School Class of 2020. Emilie is heading to the University of Oregon to join their top-ranked Acrobatics & Tumbling Team. She was recently featured on KING 5 News and has been spending her quarantine time in the family backyard where she has a small portable tumbling mat on the porch and an enclosed trampoline in the yard. Emilie carried a 3.90 GPA at Glacier Peak.

Then it's Glacier Peak Softball with seniors Ashley Jacobson and Phoebe Schultz; University of Washington Football with Kamiak alum Justin Glenn (Director of Recruiting) and Mountlake Terrace alum Thomas Ford (Football Quality Control). Finally, Kaysa Anderson, Lake Stevens senior who is heading off to Grand Canyon University to play college hockey.

Our Russell & Hill Female Student Athlete of the Month is Glacier Peak Gymnast and Future Oregon Duck Emilie Henningsen. Although their collective seasons were taken away by the Coronavirus, we learn about what might have been in Stanwood Spartans Spring Sports with Evan Caldwell from The Stanwood Camano News and Girls Golf Coach Zack Ward. Finally, it's Edgar Martinez (no not that Edgar Martinez) and Douglas Cruz-Young of the Marysville Pilchuck Tomahawks Boys Soccer team.
